On 31st January 2020, the United Kingdom left the European Union. The UK is now in a transition period, and the UK Government advises that there will be no changes for travellers from the EU, EEA or Switzerland until at least 1st January 2021.

This commitment to ‘no changes’ includes travel documents, driving licences, mobile phone charges, and the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance and you should take out a travel insurance policy when you travel to the UK.
